ALL NEWS

Designed by DP Architects, Sengkang General Hospital was recognised for the design strategies taken towards sustainability, and was awarded the Global Human Settlements Model Building Award at the Sustainable Cities And Human Settlements Awards (SCAHSA) ceremony that took place online on 16 October 2020.

The healthcare campus was designed and planned to synergistically achieve energy, green and social sustainability as well as community building. These were achieved through innovative architecture and urban design strategies that incorporate both active and passive solutions for energy conservation and thermal comfort.

Supported by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the programme encourages the delivery of Sustainable Development Goals, and recognises excellent practices and prominent progress by architects, city planners and developers alike in their quest towards greater sustainability.

With awardees coming from different parts of the world, such as Austria, Canada, and France all the way to Japan, Indonesia and China, the 14th edition of SCAHSA was attended by more than 100,000 professionals worldwide, and saw some 100 distinguished speakers and experts participate in in-depth discussions and analysis on a range of challenges, such as the ongoing public health crisis, ecological disruption and climate change that cities have had to wrestle with in this unprecedented time.
