It is Mr Foo Chai Yee’s intention that his career journey takes a holistic approach that covers a wider variety of experiences in architecture, master planning and project management. His prior experience working in Singapore’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) equips him well with a unique architectural perspective and an expertise in strategic spatial planning. Having now been with DP Architects for over 25 years, Chai Yee specialises in design development and project management of large scale, high-density urban projects. Taking a special interest in social public housing, Chai Yee has also been the Chairman of Habitat for Humanity Singapore since 2016 with the vision of creating decent home environments for everyone in Singapore and abroad. His expertise and comprehensive understanding of the authority requirements provide valuable inputs for clients at both design and implementation stages.
Chai Yee’s projects include the 45-storey Address Hotel @ The Dubai Mall, to which he was assigned Lead Project Architect. He provided his strategic knowhow in managing sub-consultants and work requirements established by internationally-renowned project managers, resourcefully shaping the space.
Chai Yee also applied his knowledge of the urban landscape to his work on the Central Zone of the Resorts World at Sentosa, acting as alternate Project Director. His job scope involved balancing multitudinous aspects of architectural design, authority approvals and project management, all while coordinating with the client’s operation team and timeline. The depth and breadth of Chai Yee’s experience paved the way for the timely completion of this phase.
Today, Chai Yee is bringing his expertise and experience to Myanmar where he provides design solutions for large urban projects. In Yangon alone, he has guided the development of projects such as Junction Square, Junction City, Capital City Phase 2, Polo Club Residences and the Illustra @ Pho Sein.
