DP Architects wins accolades at China Real Estate Design Awards 2018 – 2019

Over an intense six months, DP Architects’ Sengkang General and Community Hospitals and 8 Saint Thomas Residence faced stiff competition with over 1,117 entries from over 323 competitors in the fifth edition of China Real Estate Design Awards (CREDAward) 2018-2019. Successfully setting themselves apart from their contenders, both projects were conferred Silver Awards under the Healthcare and Residential categories respectively.

Sengkang General and Community Hospitals’ design promotes sustainability while staying true to the design intent to create a welcoming campus that enhances and facilitates the recovery process. The project has created a holistic solution that provides patient-centric spaces in a friendly, healing environment with clear and efficient way-finding; for instance, patients, staff and visitors each have separate routes to prevent infection. Commenting on his project’s win, DP Director and lead architect Mr Chin Thoe Chong said, “It was a tumultuous venture and a journey strewn with enormous challenges and uncertainties. We came through with great joy, pride and satisfaction in delivering a wonderful Place for the Community to seek care and recovery. A well deserved recognition, honour and accolade to the team who has given their all.”

8 Saint Thomas Residence is a high-end condominium that was completed in 2018. The project redefines the ideals of modern urban living and adds elegance to the lush skyline of Orchard Road. Fellow DP Director and lead architect Mr Wu Zhi Wei thanked the jury of CREDAwards, “It is a great pleasure to share and exchange with industry peers and developers through this platform. Thanks to the judges and experts for their recognition of our projects and the Singapore experience. We will continue our efforts and look forward to participating more deeply in the planning and designs of China’s future cities. I wish more success to CREDAWARD in the future.”

The awards ceremony took place on April 27 at Kerry Centre Hotel in Pudong, Shanghai and it was a night of honours for DP Architects. Receiving the prize on behalf of the firm, were directors of DPA Mr Tan Chee Yong and Mr Wu Zhi Wei. The CREDAward is an annual awards platform that recognises excellent architecture design and promotes sustainable design in China.
