CEO Angelene Chan joins the debate on the value of Singapore’s post-independence architecture

In her opinion editorial for The Straits Time published on 12 October 2018, Ms Angelene Chan discussed the importance of conservation. Not discounting the value of urban redevelopment, she puts forth that architectural heritage contributes to our national identity and collective social memory.

She debunks the idea that conservation inevitably translates to a devaluation of a development. She shared examples of conservation efforts overseas, addressing the value of conservation and architecture’s role in the branding of a city.
