DP Architects Hosts BCA-SMU iBuildSG LEAD Milestone Programme

Hosting the “Challenge in Motion” segment of the iBuildSG LEAD Milestone Programme, SMU-BCA Advanced Management Programme, DP Architects (DPA) welcomed nearly 30 Built Environment leaders from across the industry to its office on 23^rd February 2023. The programme, jointly organised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Singapore Management University (SMU), aims to develop the next generation of enterprise-level leaders in the Built Environment sector.

The four-hour workshop saw the group of enterprise-level leaders gather to discuss challenges faced by the industry today, cross-pollinate ideas and brainstorm solutions. They formed groups and rotated between 5 tables, with each hosting a unique and strategic challenge that DPA faced or is facing as case study example. The challenges posed touched upon pertinent areas of concern currently within the Built Environment industry, including: meaningful leadership and transformation, genuine sustainable solutions, overcoming technological challenges, improving talent management and retention, and enhancing human capital development.

Each team then harvested the collective wisdom of the room to propose a solution for their final table challenge. Facilitating the session were CEO of DPA Ar. Seah Chee Huang and directors Bernard Tay, Ar. Chua Zi Jun, Ar. Ng San Son and Ar. Tong Bin Sin, who played table host for their topic of expertise. At the end of each group’s presentation, Ar. Seah, an alumnus of the iBuildSG LEAD Milestone Programme himself, would reflect upon the insights produced by the participants and provide his feedback, as well as share how DPA itself approached the problem.

Ar. Seah also shared insights into DPA’s multi-disciplinary practice and its holistic approach to design; expounding on how DPA has been adopting sustainable business practices (one of the central themes in the programme curriculum) through its Green-Well-Tech thrust and Smart Sustainability Unit.
