DP Architects’ Jonathan Toh recently released an article with the Institute of Policy Studies. The article describes and explores Jonathan’s hopes for the future of Singapore’s urban development as elaborated through his belief that the present must be evaluated in order to envision the future.
By examining the roles different individuals can play in redefining public spaces, a possible evolution of the relationship between work and home is discussed. Inspired by the Nakagin Capsule Tower in Tokyo, the article contemplates the possibility of allowing homeowners more control of their spaces to produce homes malleable to change as the individual’s needs mature.
Conceptualising a city planning structure called the “Central Nervous System”, the article describes how such a plan could encourage interactions between people and their surroundings. |
