ALL NEWS

DP Architects (DPA) is elated to announce that its entry for the Golden Pin Design Award (GPDA) 2023, The INLET Block 2 has been awarded with a Design Mark, in the ‘Spatial Design’ category. This marks DPA’s first win at GPDA, one of the most prestigious and influential design awards in the global Chinese design market and community since its inception in 1981. This year, the award received almost 8,000 entries across 23 countries with 552 receiving the Design Mark.

Sited in Hongkou District, Shanghai this contemporary three-storey retail insertion designed by DPA, has been recognised for its sensitive response towards the site’s heritage through an intentionally-kept simple form and an extensive network of public spaces.

The latter directs circulation and views into the alleyways of Gongyi-Fang, one of the last remaining plots of the Shikumen neighbourhoods within Shanghai; effectively, drawing visitors into a deep appreciation of the old-world charm and regenerating the locale.

In further recognition of the Design Mark win, The INLET Block 2 has not only been selected for the GPDA exhibition alongside a curated list of fellow Design Mark winners. The exhibition is slated to open to public on 14th November 2023 through to 10th March 2024 at the Taiwan Design Museum in Taipei. It has also been nominated as a finalist for the Best Design Award. It will compete with 71 Design Mark nominees for the highest honour of the Golden Pin Design Award on 1st December this year at the Taipei Performing Arts Center.
