ALL NEWS

DPA director Chin Thoe Chong was interviewed in an in-depth personal feature for Issue #76 (Dec 2015 / Jan 2016 issue) of The Edge Malaysia supplement, Haven.
He shared at length about growing up in idyllic, heritage-rich Penang before moving to Singapore for his architectural studies at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1987. He also talked about why he joined DP Architects and how the company’s design philosophy of creating spaces that are sensitive to their environments and local communities particularly resonated with him.

Taking it to heart, Chin Thoe Chong used the experience to continue leading a team of architects to create meaningful, purposeful places that are also aesthetically appealing. He delved deep into DP Architects’ history of building nationally significant places such as People’s Park Complex, Marina Centre and Orchard Road, intertwined with Singapore’s nation-building trajectory, and its internationalisation story in the form of The Dubai Mall.

Mr Chin also introduced readers to the breadth and depth of his work, spanning the design and delivery of residential, commercial, mixed, institutional and healthcare projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Notable projects include Sengkang General Hospital, the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, the Melaka Gateway, Berjaya Central Park, Singapore Chancery in Kuala Lumpur, NUS UTown and Design Village Penang.
