DP Architects Received Accolades at the Inaugural SGBuilds Award

DP Architects has clinched four awards in the Consultants and Developers categories at the Building and Construction Authority’s (BCA) inaugural SGBuilds Award. The award recognises the outstanding internationalisation efforts and contributions to expand and strengthen the SG brand, made by local firms in the built environment sector through successful collaboration beyond Singapore’s waters.

The awards are a testament of not only DP Architects’ spirit of collaboration and international outlook. They are also a strong testament of the firm’s inter-disciplinary expertise and One Global Studio capabilities in master planning and urban design. Partnering Surbana Jurong and Netatech Engineering on two significant projects in the Middle East, DPA provided well-calibrated design solutions that holistically addressed the needs of the cities and the clients.

Winning an SGBuilds Award under the Consultant category is Lusail City Master Plan. DP Architects and Surbana Jurong were appointed by Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) to review the overall Lusail City Master Plan in Qatar. The master plan, spanning 2,300 hectares, was first established in 2006 with only 45 percent of the development implemented, due to the revisions made under the Qatar’s Second National Development Strategy 2018-2022. DP Architects spearheaded the review of the existing master plan, refreshing it to reflect new zoning guidelines that allow flexibility to adapt to current market conditions and to reposition the development to ensure its relevance for the next 10 to 20 years. As the Infrastructure Consultant, Surbana Jurong evaluated the current infrastructure of the project, and recommended the proposed changes to accommodate the change in land use within the project budget for the client. The evaluation scope included district cooling, water supply and sewerage, power supply, gas, parking spaces, and public facilities. Surbana Jurong completed the infrastructure analysis in August 2019.

Also receiving an SGBuild Award under the Consultant category is Deira Waterfront Development Phase 1. DPA was appointed lead architect by Ithra Dubai to lead and manage a team of consultants from Singapore (including DP’s landscape and arboriculture specialist, DP Green) and Dubai; spearheading the urban planning and design of Plots 1, 2, and 5 to 10 (approx. 235, 622sqm of prime land) with the aim of rejuvenating the precinct for live, work and play. DPA and Netatech worked closely, leveraging each other’s expertise and knowledge to realise the client’s vision and deliver a delightful and liveable environment through well-thought and carefully incorporated urban green design.

With a good understanding of the Vietnam market and DPA’s application of its international knowledge to the local context, the collaboration with Keppel Land Vietnam for Estella Place (Retail) & Estella Heights Phase 2 (Apartment) and The View — Riviera Point Phase 2 both received SGBuilds Awards under the Developer category.
