DP Architects supports NLB’s National Reading Movement |

As one of the first organisations to pledge support to National Library Board (NLB)’s recently launched National Reading Movement, DP Architects has already planned and spearheaded a slew of Read@Work initiatives, in support of the Movement, that would run in the next six months, aimed at encouraging a vibrant reading and learning culture among staff. Some initiatives implemented included a collaboration with Basheer Graphic Books through the setting up of a pop-up bookstore and lunchtime talk by NLB on library@orchard design.
The pop-up store event saw an overwhelming staff turnout at the firm’s library premises. The idea behind the pop-up event was to “bring the bookstore to busy architects”. Staff enjoyed the lunchtime talk which provided them with a different perspective on how the library design was conceptualised.
Upcoming activities would include more pop-up book shops, a series of talks curated by NLB, and a flea-market where all proceeds would go towards charitable causes related to learning and educational purposes.
Fully supportive of the initiatives, DPA CEO Angelene Chan encourages her staff to maintain a good learning attitude and read frequently, so that they could broaden perspectives and ignite creative ideas, which are pertinent in the architectural industry.
The National Reading Movement is a five-year nationwide initiative, which aims to encourage Singaporeans to Read More, Read Widely and Read Together with family and friends.
