Changi Airport Group has announced its appointment of DP Architects to design the retail spaces and experience of Changi Airport’s Terminal 5 (T5). DP Architects is among the three teams of Master Building Consultants that have been commissioned by CAG to provide architectural design and engineering consultancy services for the development of T5.
To design airport retail that will appeal in 2030 and beyond, DP Architects will tap on the expertise of its in-house retail typology research team; focusing its research on retail technology, changes in consumer habits and human movement patterns to create an enhanced and engaging retail and dining experience.
Speaking on the design work that lies ahead, Mr Mike Lim, lead designer of DP Architects’ T5 retail design team, said, “The firm’s retail design expertise is backed by 50 years of experience in different types of shopping mall concepts around the world. We are excited to design the airport retail experience of the future; and to create a fresh, differentiated and delightful shopping space for travellers in 2030 and beyond.”
Set for completion in 2030, the new airport terminal will provide Changi Airport with an additional capacity of 50 million passenger movement per annum in its initial phase and 100 more aircraft stands.
