Official Opening of Sengkang Health Centre

ALL NEWS

Designed by DP Architects, the integrated hospital campus consists of the Sengkang General Hospital (SKGH) and Sengkang Community Hospital (SKCH). The campus was officially opened on 23 March by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

The opening ceremony was attended by the project team, led by DP director Mr Chin Thoe Chong. The design for the campus was undertaken by DPA in 2012. Despite the challenges, the project was completed in 2018 – well within the contractual timeline – and ultimately a worthwhile endeavour for DPA.

With the aim to create a holistic healing environment, the complex supplies Singapore’s health system with an additional 1400 hospital beds, aimed to be flexible, with capabilities of providing acute care, as well as intermediate and long-term care. It is designed to harmonise a general hospital, a community hospital, and specialised outpatient clinics.

The overall design intent is to initiate an engaging atmosphere for patients, staff and visitors while creating a welcoming campus that enhances and facilitates the recovery process.
