Designed by DP Architects, the new headquarters is everything the organisation represents – encouraging and empowering volunteerism in youths.
As part of DP Architects’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, DPA designed a new office for the Singapore non-profit organisation Heartware Network. On 17th July, the 360sqm office along Ganges Avenue unveils its new space for the first time. Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development graced the opening together with 80 others — a motely group of sponsors, partners, members of the media and Heartware Network personnel.
The launch event commenced with a speech by Mr Lee and was followed by an exclusive office tour of Heartware Network’s new flexible and spontaneous work environment. Led by DP Architects director and design lead, Mr Seah Chee Huang alongside partners from Heartware Network, ABB and Water + Plants Lab, the representatives provided design insights on how the first ‘smart office’ for a local social service organisation was achieved.
The vibrant workplace, designed as a system of modular components, acts as a canvas with customisable spaces activated by an array of components such as tiered bleachers on wheels, loose seating and individual pedestals. Within this flexible canvas are ideation panels and spots that encourage spontaneous discussion and participation from youths. It also allows the users to create various settings of interaction and exchange, as well as creating room for them to reimagine and inject their own identities within the spaces.
