Chin Thoe Chong

Passionate and dedicated to the craft, Chin Thoe Chong subscribes to a singular cause – design excellence. He holds that as an architect, there is no divide between one’s professional and personal self. This is because the design process demands no less than absolute commitment, thereby requiring the architect to fully embody his role; only then, is the architect able to holistically consider all site context (cultural, socio-economic and political) and successfully translate user needs and design ideas into a physical and tangible environment that fulfils function. This final design output is what Thoe Chong terms the ‘delightful experience’.

Today, Thoe Chong is taking his approach and designing ‘delightful experiences’ in the healthcare and institutional typologies. Among the projects that he has spearheaded are Sengkang Hospitals and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Novena. Overall, Thoe Chong focuses on both design and project administration for developments in Singapore, Malaysia, China, Dubai and Southeast Asia. To date, he has completed notable projects such as the sPICE conference and exhibition centre and Gurney Paragon in Penang; Berjaya Times Square, and Sime Darby International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur; Junction Square and Junction City in Yangon; and the Dubai Marina Mall, Hotel and Office complex.
