Revitalizing History, Empowering the Future of Sustainability
Haliç Tersane Master Plan
Turkey

Haliç Tersanesi (Shipyard) is located at the coast of Golden Horn, Istanbul. The shipyard, one of the biggest in the Mediterraneann Sea, has been used actively during the Ottoman Period for military and civil purposes.

Given its position at the heart of the city centre and a coastline overlooking the historical pennisula, the Haliç Tersane master plan, at approximate 18 hectares, will house approximately 269,000 square metres of reatail, hospitality, residential, office and cultural spaces. The redevelopment master plan aims to invigorate and revitalise the area, exhibiting the culutral opulence of Istanbul.

To have more areas of interest, DP Architects planned the space like a story, as they do in the movies, in a way that would heighten senses and allow the visitors to appreciate every aspect of life. DPA interweaved various narratives to build the ‘slow living’ concept. There was a journey for the waterfront, a journey for industrial heritage, a journey for culture, and another for sustainability.

DP Architects is the appointed Design Architect team executing concept design works in collaboration with the appointed local architect.

The redevelopment masterplan aims to thus reinvigorate and revitalize the area in the intended span of 4 years.
