Hotels – they are our home away from home. When perceived in this light, one immediately envisions a luxurious space decked out in all the creature comforts one needs. Yet, a deluxe design does not necessarily translate into a desirable outfit. A lavish space that is warm and welcoming can only be begotten from a mindful design – one that considers the people.
Situated along Stevens Road, the new Novotel & Mercure hospitality development is a testament to such a design construct. From its architectural outfit to its interior composition, “人”, the Chinese character for “people”, forms the core of its design concept and embodies the ethos of the hospitality brand. Architecturally, the 人 form not only carves the triangular site into three distinctive public spaces. It ultimately prioritizes people, comfort and privacy by allowing each wing of guestrooms an optimal and desired distance from the remaining wings, generous aspects and an efficient circulation.
In the guestroom, the character “人” that inspired the form for this entire project is further revealed. The guestrooms are where end-users now seek respite. It was designed with maximum comfort and plenty of pampering in mind. Coated in neutral tones, the room is imbued with timeless sophistication. Soft materials such as a plush sofa in cotton and a generous queen size bed transform the space into a warm and welcoming sanctuary. A perfectly conceived room residing within the “人” form, it also pays tribute to the hands and energy of others who made this space possible. Those who designed, built and those who continue to work in this place are all part of the story that is Novotel & Mercure on Stevens.
