One Punggol is among the new generation of integrated community hubs. Envisioned as the ‘Heart of Punggol’, its architectural scheme is conceptualized with the intent of refreshing the kampung spirit and through its building layout, express community togetherness.
This is first articulated in its building massing. Expressed as an interlocking four-storey curve with a six-storey rectangular box, it addresses the site profile and program requirement. In soft contrast to its white and orange façade is the linear park, Punggol Green. Designed by DP Green, the language of the gardenscape is carried into the development, creating a lively and warm atmosphere.
Accessible from all directions at ground level, it invites and leads visitors to the central atrium, the Punggol Agora, which connects all storeys and stakeholders. The open floor plan enables freedom of movement, creating and facilitating opportunities for meet-ups, interactions and chance encounters within the community. Visitors can take their routes to respective facilities and activities without becoming detached from the atrium space. In this manner, the development effectively communicates inclusivity through connectivity and encourages unity through interaction.
With its variety of facilities and services co-adjacently located within a single development to serve a comprehensive spectrum of users, One Punggol – like a village square where all can gather to bond, interact and learn – contributes to the fostering of a harmonious, united and resilient society.
