Prior to the engagement of DPC, the construction of the South Beach Ballroom had encountered numerous delays and was working under a revised date of completion. The client, South Beach Consortium Pte Ltd mobilised DPC to take over construction management – the planning and direction of works on site, and coordination of all consultants and contractors technical issues to facilitate the completion of the works within the revised timeline or earlier.
As the project manager, DPC ensured that the already delayed project met the new target dates of completion. This entailed managing and monitoring the daily progress of works on site as well as coordinating the works with the D&B (design & build) contractor, civil and structural engineer and their architect.
DPC maintained close coordination with both client and consultants, along with close monitoring of the contractor’s progress, suggesting alternative proposals as necessary to preserve not only the aesthetic of the conserved building but also to keep to the revised completion date. Weekly meetings, as well as ad-hoc meetings on site between all stakeholders, were implemented in order to maintain open communications which contributed to timely delivery and high standard of work excellence.
