The extension of Supermall Pakuwon Indah sought to create an integrated living, working, and fun lifestyle destination of choice that will cater to a wide variety of users, while infusing green landscape spaces to the development so as to enhance the human spirit and the natural environment.
The key approach taken to tackle the various challenges is to critically identify potential areas within the existing site plan and its integration with the new extension, and to transform them into important nodes by establishing various features along the building perimeter.
The design of the new mall extension posesses a curvaceous undulating approach, with a dramatic wavy frontage and striking organic form that evokes the rippling effect of a dancing ribbon. Clothed in glass & aluminium panel, it further emphasizes the sweeping grand canopy that ties the entire old and new Supermall Pakuwon Indah as a whole. The organic effect is most evident from the pedestrian street and vehicular road, where it works to soften the urban edge and the quality of the surrounding skyscrapers’ mass together with frontage landscaping.
The stretch of “ribbons” from the mall frontage is also complemented with a series of landscaped green veils, creating a visually pleasant landscape oasis for the main entrance vehicular approach from the purposed “Grand Circle,”, as well as acting as a lush greenery backdrop.
