The Clan is a contemporary luxury business hotel that invokes a sense of kinship and community while invoking a certain element of exclusivity that unites members with a similar frame of mind. Wrapped in a sleek modern façade that complements contemporary taste and contrasts against the other neighbouring historical conservation buildings, The Clan employs subtle Oriental design hints to show sensitivity to the site’s historical heritage, while serving as a fresh expression of hospitality that fuses authenticity with international expectations.
Built to harmonise with the surrounding low-rise conservation setting, The Clan forms a “gate to the future” from the old Far East Square to the external Cross Street. From afar, the imposing height of the 30-storey project is tempered by its bronze glazing curtainwall, with staggering pattern of windows on the façade – a hint towards its contemporary Chinese design theme. All vision glass used across the facade is double glazed to reduce the heat from the sun to the internal spaces. DPA took a community-oriented approach to the project’s public space design, creating linkages with nearby shophouses and retail malls, as well as a convenient basement link to the nearby MRT station.
The Clan is a testament to DPA’s capabilities to inject vibrancy with contextual sensitivity, inspiring the creation of a timeless project dedicated to enlivening occupant experience.
